10. Unwrap the chain retaining wire at the bottom of the clock and let the chain fall towards the floor. Remove any knots from the chains and pull out the retaining wire totally.

11. Hang the pendulum onto the wire-loop(11a) and hang the weights onto the weight hooks.

12. Start the clock by pulling the pendulum to the side and releasing it to swing. Adjust the clock on the wall to achieve and even tick tock. To achieve the even tick tock adjust the case carefully from the side to side(i.e. Level horizontally) until it has an even sound. Do not turn the clock upside down at any time after removing the retaining wire!

13. The clock is set to 12 o'clock(noon). For setting the correct time turn the minute hand(long hand) slowly forward or backward until hour and minute hand show the correct time. Don't turn the hour hand!

14. If the clock is not keeping good time this can be corrected by moving the pendulum bob up to make the clock run faster or down to slower. For pendulum with adjusting screw turn this screw to move the bob up or down. (Note: +/-2mm = approx. +/- 10 min./day)

15. Winding the Clock

1-day clocks: Pull the chain down slowly to raise the weight. 8-day clocks: When pulling the chain down slowly assist the weight with your hand.Never pull the weights down as this can result in severe damage to the pulleys!

Care and maintenace

Cuckoo clocks do not need very much regular care. The modern movements are sophisticated, easy to maintain and durable. For cleaning the clock please use a soft dry paint brush. Please have the movement checked and oiled at regular intervals of approx. 2 years by a clockmaker nearby.
The avoid reducing the lifetime of the cuckoo clock please use the clock in standard room temperatures. Temperatrures below 5C (40F), high humidity of the surrounding air, much dust or dampness may damage your clock. Please do not hang the clock directly above a heater or above an open fireplace as the dry and warm air might distort the wooden parts and the oil in the bearings of the clock movement might run dry.
Minor damage on the wooden parts and carvings due to transport may happen sometimes and can not be avoided. Please repair such minor damages yourself by using wood glue and felt-tip pen in the appropriate color.
